About True Wind

Growing up as sister and brother on the south shore of Long Island,
New York, our summers were often filled with swimming and surfing in the ocean which was only a few miles from where we lived. Our first experience sailing was when we were teenagers and learned how to sail Sunfishes and dinghies in summer camp. Since then, we have both enjoyed learning about seamanship and how to sail a variety of larger boats.

Having always wanted to create our own company, it came as little surprise to family and friends that our idea for a business would be based on our love of the ocean and passion for sailing. With backgrounds in advertising and marketing, we knew little of product design, manufacturing and retailing, but with persistence, the asking of a lot of questions and finding our way to the right people, we have been able to bring our product ideas to market and the experience has been extremely rewarding. To those who have helped us along the way, we greatly appreciate your support and encouragement.

Since we started True Wind, our philosophy has always been to offer products of original design, superior materials and quality craftsmanship and, just as importantly, to have fun in the process. So far, we seem to be making good on all of these accounts.
